Why We Exist

Modern analytical methods can be exceptionally capable, yet meaningful targets may be dilute, difficult to access, or mixed with material that complicates recovery and analysis. The challenge often begins before the analytical instrument.

InnovaPrep develops recovery technologies and works with laboratories, researchers, commercial organizations, and government programs to collect, recover, and prepare target-bearing material from challenging air, fluid, and surface-derived samples.

Our focus is the practical connection between the sample, the target of interest, and what needs to happen next—whether analysis, characterization, or another downstream use.

Core Technology & Innovation

AirPrep™ and FluidPrep™ are InnovaPrep's two established recovery platforms. AirPrep™ supports collection of airborne material for subsequent recovery, while FluidPrep™ supports concentration and recovery from liquid samples. The appropriate products and configurations depend on the sampling objectives, matrix, target, and intended downstream use.

SurfacePrep™ extends this approach to surfaces, materials, and surface-derived samples, often by bringing the target-bearing material into a liquid that can undergo further recovery or preparation. It is an application and workflow pathway, not a third equivalent instrument platform.

Some applications benefit from conditioning, clarification, or other sample-preparation steps in addition to recovery and concentration. These are selected as needed rather than applied as a fixed sequence. InnovaPrep supports practical application assessment and collaborative workflow development; individual methods must be evaluated for their intended use.

Wet Foam Elution™

Wet Foam Elution™ is a foundational InnovaPrep recovery technology that helps release retained material from compatible collection media into a small-volume liquid sample for downstream processing or analysis. Recovery and suitability depend on the collection media, sample conditions, target, and intended method.

A growing body of peer-reviewed research documents uses of InnovaPrep technologies across different sample types, targets, and analytical methods. Findings and conditions remain specific to each study.

InnovaPrep is headquartered in Drexel, Missouri, near Kansas City. We develop and manufacture recovery technologies, proprietary consumables, and application-focused solutions for laboratories, commercial organizations, and government users.

Our team brings together engineering, aerosol science, manufacturing, scientific collaboration, and application-development experience to help address challenging recovery and sample-preparation problems.

Our Founders

David Alburty, Chairman of the Board, brings more than two decades of experience in aerosol science, environmental research, and biodefense applications. His career began at Midwest Research Institute (MRI) in Kansas City, where he focused on aerosol studies supporting environmental and homeland security initiatives. He later founded AlburtyLab, a research and development facility specializing in aerosol science and engineering. Today, the laboratory’s capabilities and expertise continue to support InnovaPrep’s commitment to advancing innovative sample preparation and concentration technologies for life science, environmental, and commercial applications.

Andy Page, Co-Inventor of InnovaPrep's platform technology, has played an important role in the development of advanced microorganism and particle collection and concentration methods. He holds numerous patents related to aerosol and hydrosol collection technologies and has extensive experience in their detection and analytical applications.

Prior to co-founding InnovaPrep, Page spent nearly eight years at Midwest Research Institute (MRI) in Kansas City, where he contributed to multidisciplinary biodefense and environmental research programs. His work focused on aerosol collection and detection systems supporting government and commercial applications, helping advance technologies used in microbial monitoring and sample preparation.
