Contamination Monitoring

An Excellent Tool for Environmental Monitoring in Cleanrooms, Manufacturing Facilities, and Controlled Environments.

The robust ability of the Concentrating Pipette to isolate and concentrate microbial particles from air and surfaces make it an excellent tool for environmental monitoring in cleanrooms, manufacturing facilities, and controlled environments to assess air quality and microbial contamination levels.

Our surface sampling method, based on exponential concentration, can detect microbial contamination risks in food processing plants, pharmaceutical facilities, and healthcare settings on environmental surfaces, equipment, and in production areas.

Scientific Information

The Concentrating Pipette (CP) effectively concentrated trace organisms from a NASA cleanroom, which, when combined with advanced analysis techniques like single-cell genomics, enabled precise monitoring and in-depth understanding of the microbial environment in critical spaces.

Scientific Information
This advancement is thanks to the AirPrep dry electret samplers, including the Bobcat and Cub air samplers, that uses N95-like filters, proven to prevent contamination in cleanrooms unlike liquid, gelatin, and agar-based samplers. Additionally, the tested and validated

AirPrep™ Cub Sampler

The AirPrep™ Cub Sampler is the next generation in aerosol sampling. This technology builds on the proven performance of its predecessor, the Bobcat, originally designed for the US Army's tactical bio-surveillance. Compact and highly adaptable, the AirPrep™ Cub Sampler can be placed on a tripod, suspended from ceilings or tucked into small spaces, making it ideal for diverse environments. Despite its small footprint, it delivers powerful air sampling efficiency and is easy-to-use, ensuring high-performance particle capture with enhanced versatility.

The AirPrep™ Cub Sampler seamlessly integrates within the broader AirPrep™ Sampler System, utilizing specialized consumables for Wet Foam Elution™, which enables rapid and efficient particle recovery from the air filter into a liquid format. This streamlined approach provides samples that are immediately ready for a wide range of downstream applications, eliminating the need for culture and delivering faster, more actionable insights. This complete system approach maximizes versatility and performance, making the Cub an essential component for applications requiring high-efficiency sampling and reliable results. Together, the AirPrep™ Cub Sampler and AirPrep™ consumables provide a comprehensive solution for advanced bioaerosol detection and analysis in various environments.

FluidPrep™ Mini CPT - Irradiated

Single-use, Irradiated, Mini Concentrating Pipette Tips (CPTs) are available in a variety of formats. Selecting the ideal CPT for use with the FluidPrep Concentrating Pipette System is crucial to achieving optimal performance - both in terms of speed and concentration factor of your target.

Selecting the Right CPT - Factors to consider

1 - Pore Size based on Nature and Size of Target Particle

CPTs are available in four pore sizes – Ultra, 0.05um, 0.2um and 0.45um to accommodate the wide range of target particle types and sizes.

*Volume and flow rates will vary by matrix and selected menu settings

2 - Surface Area by Sample Matrix and Sample Volume

The complexity of your sample and overall volume to be processed will influence the speed and overall volume that can be processed effectively. Two options are available.

  • Standard length CPTs - Membrane surface area is 98 cm²nominal. Recommended for sample volumes over 200 mL and/or more complex or turbid matrices.
  • Mini 25 CPTs  - The membrane surface area is 25 cm²nominal and capable of smaller elution volumes with optimized menu settings. Recommended for sample volumes 200 mL or less and of low complexity/turbidity. Short-walled sample containers and the CP Sample Carousel are required for use.

As a general Rule of Thumb, we recommend using the smallest tip that provides the desired concentration factor for your application.

3 - Packaging Format by Target Application

All products are produced aseptically in a cleanroom environment. Understanding your downstream application will help identify which package format is best suited.

  • Non-irradiated CPTs -Bulk packaged and suitable for most applications due to the inherent low background.  Recommended if target organisms are non-ubiquitous or using selective assays.
  • Irradiated CPTs  - Individually wrapped and irradiated to provide added protection against bioburden. Best for culture-based downstream applications.

Tips are designed for use with the CP Select (sold separately)

We recommend use with the CP sample carousel item #HC08042, and our selection of short-walled sample containers, Sample Cup Flip-Top 200ml item #HC08040-10, Sample Vial Flip-Top 10ml item # HC08041-10, and Sample Cup with Conical Bottom item #AC08106-10.
