Concentrating Pipette™ Performance with Sequencing Methods for Wastewater-Based Epidemiology Variant Tracking

A recent study by researchers at the University of California Berkeley highlighted the capability of the Concentrating Pipette’s to enhance sequencing methods for variant tracking purposes. The study compared the impact of four virus concentration/extraction methods (InnovaPrep (IP), Nanotrap (NT), Promega (PMG), and Solids extraction) on probe-capture enrichment for human viruses followed by sequencing.

“Innovaprep ultrafiltration (following solids removal) had the highest sequencing sensitivity and richness, resulting in the successful assembly of most near-complete human virus genomes.”

The Wet Foam Elution process utilized by the Concentrating Pipette system is robust – as larger quantities of samples can be utilized in most cases, and gentle enough to yield higher richness and more abundant reads. The same is true for the EasyElute™ Large volume concentration Kit as well as for our AirPrep™ systems as each use a similar high-volume filtration + Wet Foam Elution process.
