LIQUID TO LIQUID CONCENTRATION AND SAMPLE PREP
The InnovaPrep concentrator is a rapid liquid-to-liquid concentration system that has application anywhere that a macro-to-micro interface™ is needed between large sample volume collection methods, and detectors that require very small sample volumes. The system was originally developed for Biodefense applications but applications extend far beyond this field. Identified fields of use are listed below:

The system is capable of processing times on the order of seconds or minutes rather than hours or days as is common with many concentration or enrichment methods. It has been proven to be highly efficient over a wide range of particle sizes and allows for quantitation of organisms in the input fluid (enrichment methods only provide qualitative results). A dual stage InnovaPrep research unit is shown below on the left and the new HSC-40 benchtop unit is shown on the right. The HSC-40 benchtop concentrator is available now, please contact us for details.

The image below demonstrates the ability of the InnovaPrep liquid-to-liquid concentrator to rapidly concentrate a large input sample into a small analysis volume. One-hundred microliters of a 250 milliliter sample contained Bacillus globigii was plated directly. The entire remaining volume was then processed in less than 12 minutes into a concentrate volume of 1 milliliter. One-hundred microliters of this 1 milliliter concentrate was then plated. The unconcentrated sample contained 72 colonies while the concentrated had far too many colonies to count.
